As the central organisation of the German sugar industry, the Economic Sugar Association (WVZ) based in Berlin, was founded in 1950. Its members are the 5 regional associations of the almost 22,000 beet growers in Germany, 4 sugar-producing companies and 3 companies in the sugar import and export trade.
Nordzucker is one of the world's leading producers of sugar from sugar beet and sugar cane. The Group produces sugar products in various forms, such as white sugar, raw sugar, refined sugar, organic sugar, specialities and liquid sugar. Nordzucker also produces animal feed, molasses, fertilisers, fuels and electricity. In the 2024/25 financial year, the company generated revenue of 2.8 billion euros.
